Meet The New Boss
My new editor has been ignoring me. Sound familiar? So anyway, Misty and I have decided just to go straight ahead and finish the book and hand it over. I expect to turn it in by the end of summer, if all goes well on this end. Maybe she'll be thrilled and delighted and put it immediately into production. I wouldn't hold my breath, though.
Wish the news was better.
Meanwhile, there's a new/old deleted scene from TO LIGHT A CANDLE over at the Library:

Title
(Anonymous) 2022-07-28 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)My next question is very specific, as I have been curious about "Scourge" as used in the (again original?) title. In what sense were you using it? Was it in the sense of a weapon or instrument used for pain and punishment, and if so was it meant generally or did it refer to a specific thing or individual? Or was it used to mean a great affliction or source of trouble, and if so was it referring to fate itself being a terrible trouble/affliction or was it referring to an individual/thing that was the agent of the trouble/affliction?
Re: Title
I am thinking of "Scourge" being both the Scourge-er (Fate is doing a lot of scourging) and the Scourge-ee (Fate is being told to sit in the corner and think about what it has done.) Book Three is entirely about tumbling received history into the dustpile of discredit and about doing things that are unbelievable. (Plus unicorns. So many unicorns. Unicorns with opinions.) So you can see how that would fit.
If Tor doesn't like either title I may run a poll.

Re: This is getting silly
As for Herself, the Mother of Dragons, you will all have heard about the Nebula Weekend thing. It's the latest in a series of attempts to throw mud on a woman who has done nothing all her life but write wonderful books that have been beloved by generations of writers, and has done so much charity work in her "spare" time that I would exhaust myself listing it.
THAT BEING SAID...
Tor's corporate culture is, and has been for some time, undergoing a quite rigorous change, from "by fen for fen hey Mom we're making a living at this" to "this company is going to make money". We're seeing the fallout from that now. I really can't say any more than that.

(Anonymous) 2022-08-12 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)Is there a world in which Tor wash their hands of it and it can go via DAW or self publishing? I'm so prepared to give money to read this book!!
