I know, it's two years later and you might not read this, but I was wondering how the writing of the second novel is going. The first book kept me motivated to finish my grad paper this summer because I used it as a reward after I finished a section of the paper.

I just finished Crown of Vengeance and saw that the latest news was from 2013, so I was wondering if we were any closer to knowing when the second book will come out. I'm excited for it!

from Scott Costello. I thoroughly enjoyed DRAGON PROPHECY, as well as the obsidian trilogy. your writing talents is exceptional. However I have once again made a big mistake. I didn't look to see when a new release was planned before reading Dragon Prophecy. Now I see you are starting on house of the four winds series. I am at a loss at why some authors would not respect their fans and their income source by dragging out releases like this. re-reading a first book due to years later release or knowing the author is not interested in finishing a story line is quite frustrating. I made a promise to myself years ago not to read a series until they are all out, but due to my enjoyment of your writing skills I broke it. Now once again I will have to rebuke myself for such idiocy as to not listening to my better judgement by keeping my promises.. As you can tell I would love to read the rest of the story. Please re-consider and finish what you started before continuing a newer series. Best wishes for your career even though a much frustrated fan.

I am very sorry for your frustration. As an avid reader myself, I understand it completely. However, as I have mentioned elsewhere, Tor insisted on our delivery of "The House of the Four Winds" before I proceeded with the next Dragon Prophecy book.

Any updates on the dragon prophecy trilogy? It's been over a year since book 1 and I would like to know if it is on hold or get a rough % complete value or really any update that can be given? I am excited to read the rest of it, and have liked it the most of all the books in the setting so far. Thank you!

Alas, Book Two in the series hasn't even been bought yet, but I will certainly announce the news here if it is.

Hello~ I hope you're having a great day. I really enjoyed reading the first book of the house of winds series. Would it be too much to ask if there is any current news about the second book?

Unfortunately, Tor does not wish to even contemplate the purchase of the sequel to WINDS until I turn in a completely unrelated book, said book to take second place to the next OBSIDIAN book. Thus, it may be some time. My apologies.

I seriously just found this book in a thrift store for a dollar and it is brand new, unopened, and not a fold or crease in it. I wondered why someone didnt even bother to read it, as i was ready to track down the rest of it's missing series.. only to be not so shocked at this point that there will not be anymore to its series for "some time" and now i know why the book was dumped off at the thrift store without being read.. who wants to start book one of what looked to be a 12 part series and at this point its sad to see such a waste of a book which might of been a great read. Looks like i will be donating it back now to the thrift store. I only snatched it up in the first place because i thought it was another collaboration with the wonderful late marion zimmer bradley and got home and realized it said mercedes lackey and james mallory instead. I was actually going to give it a chance too and find more info on the series in case i liked it and thats when i came here and got extremely disappointed.

I am so sorry you were disappointed by HOUSE OF THE FOUR WINDS. My intention, as well as that of Ms. Lackey, was to write a number of books set in the same storyverse, with each one complete so that they could be read in any order. Claire and Dominick's story has been told, and there will be no more books about them. Again, my apologies.

Add me to the count of fans who is eagerly hoping that Tor will let you focus on the second "dozen daughters" book and the rest of the series! I knew it would be several years and I just re read the first one (a hallmark of your collaborations with Misty is that they are highly re-readable, in my opinion anyway.) Is there a place I can sign up to get updates? :)

Me too! I really want to hear about her sisters.
And , I am hopeful that there might be "visits" of previouslly featured sisters in future books to keep each of their characters alive and "in touch " with the others?

I found this thread when I read HOUSE OF THE FOUR WINDS the first time several years ago, and I searched it up again after this second read to see if there were any new developments or changes in heart from Tor.

Hello! I just wanted to pop by to say that I am a huge fan of all of your books, though the obsidian trilogy always has a special placevent in my heart. That said, I have to ask about any updates on this wonderful book. I thought it a very worthy addition to the obsidian universe. But now that we're nearing almost two years since it's release, I find myself anxious for the next installment. Any news is welcome news
