In a sense, my "Merlin Trilogy" was a collaboration, since I was working with, and greatly expanding, the original material. In the case of "World of Obsidian", Ms. Lackey and I kick ideas back and forth to come up with the basic plot. I send her the chapters as I finish them, and sometimes she'll make suggestions. Sometimes she'll write a scene off the outline (out of order), and I'll incorporate it. I really prefer to work with a collaborator, as it gives me a much stronger idea of what the finished story will be like.
