Can't wait for book 2 of the Dragon Prophecy to come out. Loved the original Obsidian series. Once published about how long would it take to get book 2 loaded to audible? Nothing like listening when you cant read.
I'm not sure about the Audible question. I know the actual recording/production of one of my books takes about ten days, but beyond that, I'm not entirely sure.
It's interesting to write with another person. In a sense, my "Merlin Trilogy" was a collaboration, since I was working with, and greatly expanding, the original material. In the case of "World of Obsidian", Ms. Lackey and I kick ideas back and forth to come up with the basic plot. I send her the chapters as I finish them, and sometimes she'll make suggestions. Sometimes she'll write a scene off the outline (out of order), and I'll incorporate it. I really prefer to work with a collaborator, as it gives me a much stronger idea of what the finished story will be like.
I was also curious. In the obsidian trilogy it was described as elves sacrificed their magic for long life and peace. But in the dragon prophecy they are still counting their lives in centuries. Was it just intended that their lives were cut short due to war vs actually living shorter lives?
Exactly! In the Obsidian Trilogy, the elves have [roughtly] a thousand year lifespan, and children are extremely rare. In the period in which the Dragon Prophecy takes place, the actual length of an elven lifespan is actually unknown, but because of constant warfare (and treachery), I doubt anyone dies of natural causes.
The elves of Amretheon Aradruiniel's time, of course, lived barely a century. We'll find out why in Blade of Empire....
